



Meet Darryl Olsen...Owner of Backwoods Boys BBQ!

About Me
My fascination with cooking started as a young boy watching and learning from my grandmother. My 30 years of experience in cooking great BBQ really started when I moved to Texas in the 1970's. It was in Texas in met and mentored with a 75 year old gentleman who had been cooking great Texas style BBQ his whole life.
From him is where I learned the art of a great BBQ...that it not only takes quality cuts of meat and a disciplined approach to the cooking process...but patience. Lessons learned form these days allow me to share these wonderful flavors and techniques with you and your friends.
In 2001 I entered my very first BBQ Competition in the Backyard Division for Ribs. Well...it just so happens that my very first competition earned my very first award...actually a First Place Award.
I was hooked and have never looked back.
I continued on the competition scene and in 2003, my baby back ribs impressed the judges so much I won 1st Place in Ribs at the Florida BBQ Association State Championship held in Sebring Florida. My award winning "Texas 2-step" coleslaw is in a class all by itself, not to mention THE favorite side dish of all my clients to date.
I have followed my passion for BBQ Cooking and look forward to sharing it with you.
